Account deletion

Delete your Shiftend account and associated data.

This page explains how a staff member or restaurant operator can request deletion of their Shiftend account and the data tied to it. We process every request, in writing, within 30 days. We honour Canadian PIPEDA, EU GDPR, and California CCPA rights.

How to request deletion

  1. Email privacy@shiftend.ai from the email address tied to your Shiftend account.
  2. Subject line: Account deletion request
  3. In the body, include:
    • Your full name as it appears on your account
    • The restaurant name your account is associated with
    • Whether you want your profile only deleted, or also any operational records you authored (acknowledgments, pre-shift notes, cert uploads)
  4. We acknowledge your request within 2 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days. You will receive a confirmation email when the deletion is complete.
  5. If you are a restaurant operator (Owner / General Manager) requesting deletion of your entire restaurant's account and data, reply "Owner — delete entire restaurant" in your email body. We will verify your identity and process the request.

What gets deleted

When we process an account deletion request, the following data is permanently removed from our active systems within 30 days:

  • Profile data — name, email address, role, department, position, hire date
  • Authentication records — your Clerk authentication identity, sign-in history, MFA factors
  • Certifications — uploaded cert documents (Smart Serve, Food Handler, AODA, WHMIS, ServSafe, etc.) and expiry records
  • Acknowledgments and pinned items — your record of items you marked as read, pinned, or completed
  • Push notification tokens — the device-specific token that lets us send you push alerts
  • App interaction history — your sign-in events and tab navigation timestamps

What may be kept, and for how long

A small set of records may be retained beyond your account deletion for legitimate operational reasons:

What if your restaurant cancels their Shiftend subscription?

When a restaurant's Shiftend subscription is cancelled, all operational data is exportable for 90 days. After that window, the entire restaurant's dataset — including your profile — is permanently deleted from our systems and backups within 180 days total. You do not need to submit a separate deletion request in this case.
