About
Built by an operator who got tired of running the place from a spreadsheet.
Attilio Di Donato spent two decades managing fine-dining floors in Toronto. The tools he was handed were built for accountants, for franchise head offices, or for software buyers — never for the person on the floor Monday morning trying to cost out last weekend. Shiftend is the platform he wanted and couldn't buy.
The mission
The best restaurant management platform on the market, full stop. Not a project — a revolution. Every decision held to that bar.
The audience
Independent operators and small groups, 1–15 locations. Restaurants who can't afford an enterprise software implementation team but refuse to keep running the floor on a spreadsheet.
The story
Five tabs, two spreadsheets, and a Monday huddle.
Hospitality wasn't a stop on the way to tech. It was the career. Twenty years on the floor, fine-dining rooms in Toronto, runs as GM, runs as operator, runs as the person everyone calls at 4pm on a Saturday.
The problem was always the same shape. The numbers existed — somewhere. The POS exported them. Payroll exported them. The accountant ran them, monthly, from Excel attachments. By the time anyone could compare last week's prime cost to this week's, the next week was already half over.
Every tool sold to fix it was either a single-purpose app (great at scheduling, blind to sales), an enterprise platform priced for hotel groups, or a glorified spreadsheet. Nothing in the middle. Nothing built by someone who'd actually had to do the work.
Shiftend is what that middle should have been. Sales, labour, prime cost, forecasting, the pre-shift, the staff handbook — one platform, real data, designed for a 1–15 location independent who wants to run the place like it's 2026.
Brand family
Every product in the family carries the Shiftend name. Shiftend, Shiftend Team, Shiftend Intelligence — a recognisable suite, not a one-off. Future surfaces (forecast automation, group consolidation, inventory) inherit the naming.
Trademarked under Shiftend Inc., a federal CBCA corporation registered in Ontario.
Why Toronto, why hospitality
Local credibility, not local lock-in.
Shiftend is built in Toronto and shaped by Toronto restaurants — the certifications operators here have to track (Smart Serve, Food Handler, AODA, WHMIS), the way Push Operations and Silverware actually behave on the ground, the rhythm of an Ontario restaurant week. The product is global; the foundations are local enough to ring true.
Compliance built in
Smart Serve, Food Handler, AODA, WHMIS, ServSafe, First Aid, JHSC. Cert tracker speaks the language operators here already know.
PIPEDA-aware
Privacy framing follows PIPEDA in Canada, GDPR in the EEA, CCPA in California. We don't pretend we're bigger than we are; we comply with what applies.
Built for the rhythm
Mon–Sun work weeks (restaurant standard, not corporate calendar). Holiday context lifted from the Calendar module. Lunch + dinner segment splits as a first-class concept.
Team
Small, senior, shipping.

Advisory partners
Restaurant operators
Every feature we ship is reviewed by working operators. No feature lands if the floor doesn't want it.
Case study
A real restaurant, real numbers.
The first published case study lands the moment consent does. Until then, the structure and standard are public so you can see what we'll publish — and what we refuse to publish without sign-off.
